You just got out of school last year
And all your friends ask, hey what you doing here?
Somehow you just can’t mix with kids your age.
She knows what she likes.
I know you look much older now,
But you ain’t figured out life somehow.
You got a different number on every page.
She knows, she knows what she wants .
Chorus
Crazy, crazy, you amaze me.
Crazy lady, rearrange me.
Crazy baby, I’m so in love with you right now.
You’re growing up before your time.
You think everybody’s saying ooh but you’re looking fine.
You’re learning fast, you sure have come a long way.
She knows she knows what she likes.
I know you don’t think much of me;
’Cos you’ve got plans on just what you oughta be.
You’ve got a different face for every day.
She knows, she knows what she wants.

The band’s first single with for RAK. Recorded by session musicians with vocals added by MUD later. Reached #12 in April 1973.
You laughed at me I laughed at you
You said that you already knew
You looked at me I looked at you
And there was nothing I could do
What to do after all you put me through
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
Chorus
You’re hypnotic when you touch,
Your hypnosis is too much,
And you burn me with your hypnotistic fire.
You’re hypnotic when you fee,
Your hypnosis is too reall,
And I hope you’re not a hypnotistic liar.
You captured me, I fell for you
Now I’ve got nothing left to lose.
You walked on me I let you do
Whatever you must put me through, put me through,
Now what have I done to you?
Ooh Ooh Ooh Ooh

B-side: Last Tango In London
The band’s follow up to Crazy, it’s highest chart position #16. Like Crazy, the track had been pre-recorded with MUD supplying the vocals later.
Nobody knew her name,
She turned up just the same.
There was a knock on the door, a bump on the floor,
And the party turned insane.
She called out her na-a-a-me
Chorus
Then she walked in looking like dynamite,
She said now come along boogaloo through the night.
And by the way she’s moving well dynamite,
Light you up with all she’s got.
She’s got the whole town lighting up dynamite
Nobody quite knows what to do wrong or right
But they all know Dyna is dynamite
And they’re right
She hadn’t been there long,
When she told us where she came from.
There was a flash in the sky
A light in her eye
And the dynamite light burned on.
As the music went on and on and on
and on and on and on and on and on and on

Released October 1973 on RAK Records- RAK159
B-side: Do It All Over Again
Originally turned down by Sweet, Dynamite was MUD’s third single for RAK and their first top ten hit. It became obvious that the “tango” format wasn’t going to work, so they decided to get back to their Rock ’n’ Roll roots. Dyanamite remains one of MUD’s most popular tracks. The b-side was the first Mud composition released by RAK.
Yea-a-a-ah! Yeah!
All night long, you’ve been looking at me.
Well you know you’re the dance hall cutie that you longed to be.
Oh well now, you’ve been laying it down,
You’ve got your hip swinging out of bounds,
And I like the way you do what you’re doin’ to me
Chorus
Alright.
That’s right, that’s right, that’s right, that’s right I really love your tiger light.
That’s neat, that’s neat, that’s neat, that’s neat,
I really love your tiger feet.
I really love your tiger feet.
Your tiger feet.
Your tiger feet
Your tiger feet.
Well alright
’
Well flash your warning lights just as long as you like.
I know you’re aching to be making me tonight.
I’ve got a feeling in my knees,
It’s a feeling only you can please,
There ain’t no way I’m gonna let you outta my sight.

Released January 1974 on RAK Records- RAK166
B-side: Mr Bagatelle
Number one for 4 weeks and the best selling single of 1974. Tiger Feet was MUD’s breakthrough single and remains the one song that everybody remembers them for. Accordong to the band, they weren’t too sure about the song when it was first offered to them by Mike Chapman. However, once they got into the studio they began to see the potential. The single’s success took everybody by surprise and it remains one of the most recognisable “dance” tracks of the glam era.
I said hey you guys, look who’s waiting outside.
Well she’s got style you can see it in her feline eyes.
When she starts moving you sure can tell,
When she starts shaking she’s raising hell
I said hey you guys, look who’s waiting ouside.
Do you remember how she left that floor last Saturday night?
When that cat broke loose she darned near started a fight.
Well she may have been flashing like a neon sign,
But you can’t touch her ’cos she’s mine all mine,
I said hey you guys, look who’s waiting outside,
Let her in!
Chorus
And then the cat crept in (crept in) and crept out again.
The cat crept in (crept in) and crept out again.l
So I opened up the door to that high heeled whore.
I said the cat crept in, ooh and crept out again
I said the cat crept in, and we crept out again
I said hey you guys, can you hear that alley cat cry.
She ain’t superstitious but she’s hanging on life number nine
Well you may not but she hides in the light.
And she may not show it but this cat can bite
I said hey you guys, look who’s waiting outside.
Let her in!
Chorus
Break
I said hey you guys, look who’s waiting outside.
Well she’s got style you can see it in her feline eyes
Well she may have been flashing like a neon sign
But you can’t touch her ’cos she’s mine all mine
I said hey you guys, look who’s waiting outside
Okay, let her in!

B-side: Morning
MUD’s fifth single eached number 2 in the UK charts. By now MUD had found the right formula (it was their third top-ten hit in a row).
(spoken) Now this here’s the story of Abigail Rocket-Blast.
Just wanna tell you
Well, well you changed your name to Abigail Rocket-Blast
And then they wound you up for the Hollywood movie test
With all them big cigars and motor cars
She thought she was a movie star
But Abigail Blast you sure are changing fast
You, you, you were just sixteen you were knocking on the agent’s door
Because, because, because the silver screen is what a movie queen lives for
They gave you minks and dreams, and pinks and greens
You threw away your old blue jeans
But Abigail Blast they’re using you
Come on, come on, come on now
Chorus
Rocket - I’m gonna launch you soon
C’mon now Rocket
You’re gonna reach the moon
You’re gonna take off soon, you’re gonna reach the moon
You know your time’ll come
I’ll give you 3-2-1!
Now Rocket, I’m gonna launch you soon
Second verse
I saw you sitting in a soda store with all the cast-off Stardust falls
Where they write their names on the floor and hang their photographs on the walls.
Oh but to me you’ve still got sweet sixteen
I’m getting rid of Abigail Blast
I’ll call you Rocket, cut the past.
Come on, come on, come on, come on now
Chorus
Break
You’re gonna take off soon, you’re gonna reach the moon
You’ll know when your time has come
I’ll give you 3 - 2 - 1!
Now Rocket, I’m gonna launch you soon
Come on,m come on, now Rocket
I’m gonna launch you soon.
Come on, come on, come on, come on now Rocket
You’re gonna reach the moon
Come on, come on, come on now Rocket
I’m gonna launch you soon
Well, well, well Rocket
I’m gonna launch you soon

B-side: The Ladies
Rocket continued the band’s run of top-ten hits, reaching number 6.
Try to imagine a house that’s not a home.
Try to imagine a Christmas all alone.
That’s where I’ll be since you left me.
My tears could melt the snow.
What can I do without you?
I’ve got no place, no place to go
Chorus
It’ll be lonely this Christmas, without you to hold
It’ll be lonely this Christmas, lonely and cold.
It’ll be cold so cold without you to hold
This Christmas
Each time I remember the day you went away.
And how I would listen to the things you had to say.
I just break down, as I look around and the only things I see
Are emptiness and loneliness and an unlit Christmas Tree.
Chorus
[spoken] You remember last year, when you and I were together
We never thought there’d be an end
And I remember looking at you then
And I remember thinking that Christmas must have been made for us
’Cos darlin’, this is the time that you really need love
When it means so very very much.
Chorus
(spoken) Merry Christmas darlin’, wherever you are.

Released November 1974 on RAK Records - RAK187
B-side:I Can’t Stand It
A change of pace brought the band their second number one hit. Les recalled in an interview that he couldn’t mime to the spoken segment of the song so introduced the ventriloquists dummy for their Top of the Pops appearances. Probably Les’ best remembered Elvis impersonation.
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh
The secrets that you keep.
I’ve only got myself to blame.
I played a losing game.
I lie awake and call your name
All I own is just a picture in a brocken frame
It seemed so hard for me to share
It’s even harder now that you’re not there (now baby)
Chorus
I’m losing sleep over the secrets that you keep
(Oh baby)
I’m losing sleep over the secrets that you keep.
I lie awake at night not knowing where you are
You know it don’t seem right that you could be so far away from me.
Oh oh the secrets that you keep
Since you’ve been gone our worlds have grown apart.
Now I don’t know what’s in your head or in your heart.
Those little things you kept so secretly.
They don’t mean much to you but they mean so much to me.
So won’t you give me just one more chance.
I’m the fool who broke up our romance.
We used to have so many plans
And then I went and let you slip right through my hands.
I’ll go on searching ’til I find
A way to get you back and make you mine (until then)
Chorus
I’m losing sleep over the secrets that you keep
I’m losing sleep over the secrets that you keep
I’m losing sleep over the secrets that you keep
I’m losing sleep over the secrets that you keep

Sweet little Moonshine Sally,I’ve got your picture on my wall.
You live in Tukeloe Valley, beside the firewater fall.
And every night I hear you call from beneath the water fall
On the night of the magic moon I hear you call.
Chorus
Hey, hey, hey I want to take you
Don’t want to make you live with me in Tukeloe Valley.
Hey, hey, hey hear me calling, magic’s falling,
All around Moonshine Sally,
Moonshine Sally, from Tukeloe Valley.
They talk of voices in the valley, they say that here the moon runs high.
They say they’ll hear no more of Sally, when the magic waterfall runs dry.
Still every night I hear you call from the magic waterfall;
In the night of the magic moon I hear you call
Chorus

One night with you, is what I’m now praying for.
The things that we two could plan, would make my dreams come true.
Just call my name, I’ll be there right by your side,
I want your sweet helping hands,
My love’s too strong to hide.
Always lived, very quiet life, yeah.
But I never did no wrong.
But now I now that life without you has been too lonely too long.
One night with you, is what I’m not prayin’ for.
The things that we two could plan, will make my dreams come true.
